Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Legislative Assembly witnessed noisy scenes on Wednesday as Opposition members stalled proceedings over the MMDR Amendment Act issue.
As soon as the House proceedings began, BJD and Congress MLAs created a ruckus during Question Hour. Congress legislators staged a unique protest by wearing posters around their necks demanding withdrawal of the MMDR Act and raised slogans under the Gandhi statue inside the Assembly premises. Joining the Congress protest, BJD MLAs rushed to the well of the House and raised slogans against the BJP government, demanding rollback of the Act.
Amid the continuous uproar, Speaker’s podium was surrounded by Opposition slogans, making it impossible to conduct the Assembly proceedings. With no order in the House, Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi adjourned the proceedings till 4 PM.
