Bhubaneswar: To manage the heavy passenger rush during the upcoming Durga Puja and Diwali festive season, East Coast Railway has announced the operation of special trains on two key routes.
In view of the anticipated increase in passenger traffic during the upcoming Durga Puja and Diwali festive season, additional Puja Special Trains will be operated on important routes to facilitate the comfortable journey of passengers and clear the extra rush.
Puri–Santragachi–Puri Puja Special
Train No. 08405 Puri–Santragachi Puja Special will run every Monday from 5 October to 26 October 2026, while Train No. 08406 Santragachi–Puri Puja Special will run every Tuesday from 6 October to 27 October 2026.
Train No. 08405 will depart Puri at 17:45 hrs and reach Santragachi at 03:45 hrs the next day. In the return direction, Train No. 08406 will depart Santragachi at 08:45 hrs and arrive at Puri at 19:00 hrs.
Stoppages:
The trains will have stoppages at Sakhigopal, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Bhadrak, Baleshwar, Rupsa, Jaleswar, Belda and Kharagpur.
Coach Composition:
The special train will comprise 18 LHB coaches
• AC 2-Tier – 01 Coach
• AC 3-Tier – 03 Coaches
• Sleeper Class – 08 Coaches
• General- 4 Coaches
• Luggage-cum-Generator-cum-Brake Van with Divyang-friendly facility – 02 Coaches
Shalimar–Khurda Road–Shalimar Puja Special
Train No. 08043 Shalimar–Khurda Road Puja Special will run every Monday from 12 October to 9 November 2026. In the return direction, Train No. 08044 Khurda Road–Shalimar Puja Special will run every Tuesday from 13 October to 10 November 2026.
Train No. 08043 will depart Shalimar at 17:55 hrs and arrive at Khurda Road at 02:45 hrs the next day. Train No. 08044 will depart Khurda Road at 06:45 hrs and reach Shalimar at 15:00 hrs.
Stoppages:
The train will have stoppages at Santragachi, Kharagpur, Baleshwar, Rupsa Jn., Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

The special train will comprise 22 ICF coaches
• AC 2-Tier – 02 Coach
• AC 3-Tier – 06 Coaches
• Sleeper Class – 08 Coaches
• General- 4 Coaches
