Bhubaneswar: Jagatsinghpur recorded the highest rainfall of 213 mm in the last 24 hours due to a depression affecting the state. Other districts also received significant precipitation, with Koraput logging 197.0 mm, Nabarangpur 169.4 mm, Malkangiri 164.2 mm, Bhadrak 131.0 mm, Jajpur 118.4 mm, and Kendujhar 116.6 mm.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack received comparatively moderate rainfall of 41.5 mm and 32.8 mm respectively during the same period.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at one or two places over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, and Nabarangpur. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 50-60 kmph are also very likely at one or two places in these districts.
Heavy rainfall is very likely at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Debagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Subarnapur, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph are expected at one or two places in these districts as well.
Similarly, heavy rainfall is very likely on Saturday at one or two places over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds (40-50 kmph) are also very likely at one or two places in these three districts.
