Bhubaneswar: Schools in five Odisha districts, including all educational institutions in four districts, will remain closed on Saturday in view of the heavy rainfall forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
All government, government-aided and private schools in Kataka, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Nuapada will remain closed on September 26, according to separate orders issued by the respective district administrations on Friday.
In Bhadrak, altogether 399 schools under seven blocks will remain closed on Saturday, following an order issued by the district Collector and District Magistrate.
The IMD has issued an Orange Warning for Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada and Nabarangpur, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places on September 26.
Heavy rainfall is also likely at some places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Subarnapur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri, the weather office said.
The IMD Regional Centre said the depression over south Odisha and adjoining south Chhattisgarh is likely to move north-northwestwards while maintaining its intensity during the next 12 hours and subsequently weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area.
