Bhubaneswar: Odisha PCC President Bhakta Charan Das fell ill during the Congress protest demanding the CEC’s resignation. He was immediately taken to a private hospital where doctors advised him to take rest for a week.
Despite taking medication as prescribed for a fever-related illness over the past eight days, Das did not get adequate rest due to his busy schedule with various party programmes. A medical check-up revealed elevated blood pressure and blood sugar levels, alongside low oxygen saturation. Doctors have advised him to get admitted to the hospital for a week of treatment and take rest until full recovery.
Bhakta Das led a massive agitation taken out by the party demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The protest was part of the party’s nationwide agitation after a newspaper report claimed disquiet within the poll panel over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Das, along with several party leaders and workers, took out a march from the additional district magistrate’s office towards the CEO’s office carrying posters and banners.
