Bhubaneswar: As many as 1,027 constable trainees of the 5th batch of the Odisha Police successfully completed their training and took part in the Passing Out Parade at the Basic Training Institute (BTI), Burla, Sambalpur, on Saturday.
Odisha DGP Vinaytosh Mishra attended the parade as the chief guest and took the salute of the passing-out trainees.
Addressing the trainees, Mishra congratulated them on completing their training and urged them to face challenges in the discharge of their duties with courage and professionalism.
Emphasising the need for a people-friendly police force, the DGP called upon the trainees to maintain a friendly attitude towards the general public and enhance the image of Odisha Police through professionalism, sensitivity and good behaviour.
Referring to the Odisha Police motto, “Service and Security”, Mishra said protection of weaker sections, women and children should remain the foremost duty of police personnel.
During their training, the 1,027 trainees participated in law-and-order duties during the Puri Rath Yatra, Ram Navami celebrations in Sundaragada, Sambalpur, Baleshwar and Bhadrak, Hanuman Jayanti in Sundargarh, Subarnapur and Jharsuguda, visits of the President and Prime Minister to Mayurbhanj, and Sital Sasthi and the Chief Minister’s visit to Sambalpur.
Tinku Mahananda and Narendra Sahu secured first and second positions, respectively, in indoor subjects, while Ahuti Agnikar Palei and Santosh Kesi stood first and second, respectively, in outdoor subjects. They were felicitated by the DGP.
Sumit Thapa was adjudged the overall Best Trainee, while Ahuti Agnikar Palei, Shubhrajit Panda and Himanshu Bag were felicitated as Best Trainees for overall performance.
Additional DGP (SAP) Rajesh Kumar, IGP (SAP) Satish Gajbhiye, BTI Burla Commandant Prasad Tamang, senior police officers, family members of the trainees and media representatives attended the event.
