Kendujhar: Kendujhar police have arrested four persons in connection with an armed dacoity and shooting incident in Khudaputuli village in which a house owner was killed, police said on Monday.
According to police, a group of armed miscreants entered the house of Jatindra Mahanta on the night of August 2 with the intention of committing theft and dacoity. When Mahanta resisted them, the accused allegedly opened fire, critically injuring him, and fled after looting the house.
Mahanta was initially admitted to the Kendujhar District Headquarters Hospital and was later shifted to a hospital in Kataka for advanced treatment. He succumbed to his injuries on August 5 while undergoing treatment.
Ghatagaon police had registered a case (408/2026) in connection with the incident and launched an investigation. Additional Superintendent of Police Pratyush Mohapatra said CCTV footage and other evidence were analysed during the probe, following which police conducted raids at several locations.
Four accused persons allegedly involved in the crime have been arrested and produced before a court, the ASP said.
