Bhubaneswar: The Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) has called for a statewide bandh on September 30, demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in government-issued textbooks and the resignation of Minister Nityananda Gond.
The organisation has appealed to people across the State to support the bandh and ensure its success. Shops, markets, commercial establishments and other private establishments are expected to remain closed during the shutdown.
Public transport services, including buses, may also be affected, though bus owners’ association has not announced any decision to suspend services so far and bus services are likely to continue.
Essential services including hospitals, ambulances, pharmacies, fire services and other emergency services will remain operational.
The controversy erupted earlier this year after more than 1,600 errors were detected in newly published school textbooks. The issue sparked widespread criticism from Opposition parties, educationists and other stakeholders, raising serious concerns over the quality of educational material supplied to students across the State.
