Bhubaneswar: The Gundicha Temple, known as the birthplace of Lord Jagannath, was reopened for the general public on Monday after a gap of six years.
According to reports, the temple, which had remained closed since the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, was opened at 7:45 am after performing puja and rituals.
Srimandir Chief Administrator along with devotees entered the temple on the first day of its reopening. A large number of devotees were seen gathering to have darshan of Mahaprabhu’s Janmabedi. For the convenience of devotees and to ensure disciplined darshan, all ancillary arrangements have been made by the temple administration, district administration and police administration.
According to the temple administration, entry will be free for the first three days. After that, a nominal fee of Rs 10 will be charged for entry.
The reopening of the Gundicha Temple has brought joy among devotees and servitors, as the sacred shrine holds immense religious significance during the annual Rath Yatra and otherwise.
