Bhubaneswar: The rescued orangutans are adapting well to Odisha’s climate and their health condition is improving, informed Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia today.
The Minister said that various teams of specialist doctors are regularly checking up on the orangutans and that their weight is also increasing.
“The climate of Odisha suits the orangutans. Special care is being taken and 24-hour monitoring is being done. The weight of the orangutans has also increased,” said Minister Khuntia.
He further informed that a DNA test of the orangutans will be conducted very soon to ascertain their origin. “Contact has been established with GSI for the DNA test. Samples will be collected very soon and sent for examination. After the DNA test report, it will be clear which country they have come from. After the report comes, the Government of India will also be informed,” the Minister added.
The Minister said that once the DNA report arrives, it will be clear where the primates were brought from.
