Kataka: A restaurant operating in the Kataka Development Authority (KDA) area was sealed and fined after a joint raid by the Food Safety, Police and Excise departments allegedly uncovered liquor, hookah supplies, gambling materials and stale food on Wednesday.
The raid was conducted in the afternoon following allegations that the establishment was being used for activities beyond its permitted purpose as a restaurant.
During the inspection, officials reportedly seized expensive liquor, hookah equipment and a quantity of nicotine, along with gambling-related items, including coins. A substantial quantity of stale food, including chicken and rice, was also found and seized.
Officials said the restaurant had permission to operate only as a food establishment. Following the inspection, the premises was sealed and a fine of ₹5,000 was imposed over the violations related to food safety and unauthorised activities.
An Excise official said further action would be taken against the establishment for allegedly possessing nicotine, liquor and other excise-related items without the required permission.
