Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a cash award of Rs 11 lakh each for the players and Rs 5.5 lakh each for the support staff of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team for winning gold at the Asian Games 2026.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) posted on X that the Chief Minister congratulated the team for its outstanding performance, determination and commitment, which have brought immense pride to the nation.
“Odisha Government stands firmly with Indian hockey and remains committed to supporting and nurturing sporting excellence,” the post said.
India won the Asian Games women’s hockey gold medal after a gap of over four decades with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over defending champions China in the final of the Aichi-Nagoya Games on Friday. The win also secured direct qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
