Puri: A youth was seriously injured after allegedly being shot during a family meeting at Kalikabadi village under Brahmagiri police station limits in Puri district on Sunday, police said.
The injured youth, identified as Tofan Pahal, sustained a bullet injury to his stomach. He was initially taken to Puri District Headquarters Hospital and was later shifted to Bhubaneswar after his condition deteriorated.
According to preliminary information, a meeting of the Pahal family was being held when a dispute reportedly broke out between two family members during discussions on joining a political party.
A young businessman, identified as Bulu Pahal, has been accused of firing a gun during the altercation. The bullet allegedly hit Tofan.
Following the incident, personnel from Brahmagiri police station reached the spot and launched an investigation.
