Koraput: The South Western Range (SWR) of Odisha Police has invited applications from retired Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), Sub-Inspectors (SIs) and Inspectors of Police for recruitment to 113 posts of Special Police Officers (SPOs) on a contractual basis.
The vacancies will be filled in six districts—Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Nuapada. Rayagada has the highest number of vacancies, with 24 posts, followed by Koraput with 22, Malkangiri with 20, Kalahandi with 18, Nabarangpur with 16 and Nuapada with 13.
Eligible retired police personnel can submit their applications to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Western Range, Koraput. The applications must reach the office of the DIG by 5.30 pm on October 15, 2026. Applications received after the deadline or those that are incomplete will be rejected.
According to the eligibility criteria, applicants must be permanent residents of Odisha and should not be more than 65 years of age as on the date of publication of the advertisement. They must be able to speak, read and write Odia and should have an unblemished service record. They should also have no pending criminal cases and must not have been convicted of any criminal offence.
The selection test will be conducted at the Reserve Police Ground in Koraput at 6.30 am on October 28, 2026. The selection process will include verification of original documents, a medical examination, a physical test and an interview.
Candidates appearing for the physical test will have to cover a distance of 5 km on foot within one hour. Those who fail to complete the distance within the stipulated time will be disqualified.
The selected personnel will be re-employed on a contractual basis for one year and will be required to wear the prescribed police uniform and badge. The remuneration will be paid as per the guidelines of the Odisha Government’s Finance Department.
