Kataka: Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Vinaytosh Mishra on Tuesday said the state police are fully prepared for the upcoming student union elections and expressed confidence that the polls will be held peacefully in a spirit of harmony and brotherhood.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 71st State Police Duty Meet at the Reserve Police Ground in Buxi Bazaar, the DGP said strict instructions have been issued to Superintendents of Police (SPs) of all districts to maintain a close watch on outsiders and prevent any external interference in the election process.
“We are fully prepared for the student union elections and have complete faith that polls will be conducted in a spirit of complete brotherhood. Outsiders should not get involved in the elections. From my experience during my tenure as an SP, I have observed that student union elections can be held peacefully if there is no interference from outsiders.”
Unruly students, he suggested, should be counselled and guided back to the right path. Also, the DGP emphasised that the absence of outsider interference is key to ensuring orderly and peaceful elections across campuses in the state.
He further informed that a video conference with all district SPs will be held today to review security arrangements in college campuses.
