Bhubaneswar: A Plus II student reportedly went missing after being swept away by strong currents while bathing in the sea along with friends. The incident took place on Tuesday evening at Sunapur beach under Chikiti block in Ganjam district.
The missing student has been identified as A Yudhisti from Kotilinga village under Chikiti area. Meanwhile, an ODRAF team has launched a search operation in the sea.
According to sources, a group of youths including A Yudhisti from Kotilinga village had gone to Sunapur beach to celebrate a friend’s birthday. After having a feast there, some of them went to take a bath in the sea. Yudhisthi was swept away by the strong sea current while taking bath in the sea. After he went missing, his friends searched for him but could not trace him. Later, the local administration and rescue teams were informed about the incident.
On receiving information, the ODRAF team reached the spot and started a search operation, which is still underway.
Meanwhile, the administration and rescue teams have advised people visiting the seashore to exercise caution and not to venture into the sea during strong currents.
