Rayagada: In a tragic incident, two minor girls drowned in a pond at Shantinagar under Kalyansinghpur block in Rayagada district.
The deceased have been identified as 12-year-old Nilu Kadraka and 12-year-old Kami Tiaka of Badnayakguda village under Pujariguda panchayat. Both of the minors were Class VII student of Badnayakguda School.
According to information, the two girls had gone to take a bath in the Shantinagar pond. While bathing, both of them drowned in the water. After the incident came to light, villagers rescued them and took them to Badnayakguda village.
On receiving information, Kalyansinghpur police reached the spot and started a preliminary investigation.
Till the last report came in, process is underway to conduct post-mortem of the two bodies.
