Bhadrak: Tension prevailed in Bhadrak during the Odisha Bandh today after a face-off between police and protesters on the College Chhak Overbridge on National Highway-16.
According to reports, a car was passing through the National Highway during the bandh when agitators stopped it. The driver allegedly tried to forcibly drive the vehicle through the crowd, attempting to run over the protesters. This enraged the agitators who then hit the car. A police team led by the City Deputy Superintendent of Police, present on the spot, intervened to stop the protesters. When police pushed the agitators, a CPI(M) worker identified as Bikash Nath reported to have grabbed the collar of the City DSP. Police, however, overpowered the attacker and took him to the police station.
Meanwhile, some women protesters have accused the women police personnel of misbehaviour with them during the scuffle.
On the other hand, the Additional SP said the youth was detained as he had attacked the police. The vehicular movement was restored after police forcefully removed the protesters from the National Highway.
