Bhubaneswar: The IMD has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm activity in several districts of Odisha for the next two days.
As per the forecast for Day 1 (Valid upto 08:30 am of October 9), thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind with wind speed reaching upto 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Kandhamala, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind with wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph is also very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagada during the same period. These districts have been issued yellow alert.
For Day 2 (Valid from 08:30 am of October 9 to 08:30 am of October 10), the IMD has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind with wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Nayagada.
People in the warned districts have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions during thunderstorm activity.
