Jajpur: Vyasanagar Autonomous College has postponed students union elections due to unavoidable situation on the campus.
The college issued a notification regarding postponement of students union polls after a unanimous decision by the Election Committee and Academic Committee.The college will remain closed from 1 PM today until further order.
“…as decided in the meeting of the Election Committee & the Academic Committee, the college shall remain closed w.e.f 08.10.2026 (01.00 PM) till further notice & students’ union election-2026 in the college is postponed,” the notification read. Students have been asked to vacate hostels by tomorrow morning.
Tension ran high at the college after bombs were hurled at the Principal’s room and the boys’ hostel late last night. The incident comes just a day after the notification for the college elections was issued.
The late-night bombing ahead of elections has created an atmosphere of fear on the campus.
Meanwhile, UNS Mahavidyalaya, Khairabad-Mugpal in Jajpur district has also cancelled campus elections.A notification issued by the college stated that “+3 Students Union Election is cancelled as per unanimous decision of staff association members (both teaching and non-teaching) due to unavoidable situation and circumstances in the college campus.”
