Bhubaneswar: Odisha has received the Wind India 2026 Award for “Leadership in Wind Energy De-risking” at the Windergy India 2026 summit, recognising the state’s efforts to promote wind power and create a conducive environment for renewable energy investment.
Satyapriya Rath, Managing Director of GRIDCO, received the award from Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi in the presence of industry leaders and senior government representatives.
Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said the recognition reflected the state government’s commitment to advancing clean energy, attracting private investment and developing an enabling ecosystem for sustainable power generation under the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy.
Odisha also hosted a dedicated session, “Odisha: India’s Next Wind Destination”, at the summit to showcase the state’s wind energy potential to domestic and international investors.
Rath outlined Odisha’s strategic advantages and policy measures aimed at converting its wind potential into commercially viable and scalable projects. The discussions focused on wind resource assessment, project bankability, land and site readiness, grid connectivity, turbine logistics and regulatory certainty.
The award and investor participation at the summit further strengthen Odisha’s positioning as an emerging destination for renewable energy development, the release said.
