Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday clarified that a purported letter claiming changes to the eligibility criteria and educational qualifications for Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) under the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS) is fake and fabricated.
The purported letter, bearing No. 21897/SME and dated October 5, 2026, claims that the government has approved changes to the eligibility criteria and educational qualifications for several TGT posts, including Social Science, Mathematics, Science, Odia, English and Computer Teacher.
In a clarification issued by the School and Mass Education Department, the government stated that it had not issued any such letter and advised candidates preparing for OAVS recruitment not to be misled by the document circulating on social media.
“This Department has not issued any such letter. The said letter is fake and fabricated. Candidates are advised not to worry or panic over the said fake letter,” the clarification stated.
The circulation of the purported letter has raised concerns among recruitment aspirants about possible changes to the prescribed eligibility criteria and educational qualifications for various teaching posts.
The department has urged candidates to rely only on authentic information published on the official websites of the School and Mass Education Department and OAVS for updates regarding recruitment notifications, eligibility criteria and educational qualifications.
Candidates have also been advised to verify all recruitment-related information through official sources and refrain from relying on unverified documents circulated on social media.
