Puri: A shocking incident of mob brutality has come to light near Jalakabar Square under Chandanpur police station in Puri, where a youth was allegedly stripped naked and beaten mercilessly on the road.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. According to locals, the youth was allegedly thrashed for misbehaving with a mentally ill woman. However, the exact reason behind the assault is yet to be ascertained.
On being informed, Chandanpur police reached the spot, rescued the youth and sent him to hospital. The identity of the victim is yet to be established.
Police have detained the youth and are questioning him. Locals are also being questioned as part of the investigation.
