Koraput: A major fire broke out at the godown located on the upper floor of the Twills Dress Showroom near Saura Sahi Chhak on the main road of Jeypore town in Koraput district today.
According to reports, the fire broke out at around 1 pm. The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. The sudden blaze created panic in the showroom.
Upon being informed, the fire brigade personnel reached the spot immediately and two fire tenders rushed to the spot. The fire brigade personnel are trying to douse the flames and bring it under control till the last report came in.
Various new dresses stocked in the godown for Dussehra sale have been gutted in the fire. Loss to the tune of Rs 50 lakh has been incurred in the fire incident, it is learnt.
