Bhubaneswar: A headless body of an unidentified woman was found on the embankment of the Luna river in Odisha’s Kendrapada district on Friday morning, police said.
The body was spotted by residents of Maharakuula village near the river embankment, following which they alerted the police.
Two slippers were also found lying near the body, while bloodstains were noticed on the embankment. However, no other belongings or clues have been recovered so far.
Suspecting foul play, local residents believe that the woman may have been murdered.
On receiving information, personnel from Kudanagari police station reached the spot and launched an investigation.
The body was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death and gather further details.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
