Bhubaneswar: The Palaspur bridge under Sanakhemundi block in Ganjam district has been completely washed away, thereby disconnecting Digapahandi from Asika.

Though Cyclone Arnab has now weakened into a well-marked low pressure area, it has left Ganjam and Gajapati districts inundated, with Berhampur city and several other towns waterlogged.

As per reports, due to the collapse of the Palaspur bridge vehicular movement on the only road connecting Digapahandi to Asika has been completely disrupted, snapping connectivity between the two areas.

Reports said, floodwater was flowing about 15 feet above the Palaspur bridge for the last three days. After the water receded, the bridge was found to have completely collapsed. The extensive damage has severely affected daily life and movement of people in both regions.
