Bhubaneswar: Khallikote MLA Purnachandra Sethy was allegedly attacked by flood-affected villagers during his visit to Purushottampur block in Ganjam district on Saturday.
According to reports, locals who have been reeling under severe hardship after Cyclone Arnab confronted the MLA over alleged delay in relief and absence of elected representatives in affected areas.
Situation turned tense as some villagers allegedly manhandled the MLA and pushed him to the ground. Police deployed at the spot initially failed to control the crowd, but later rescued the legislator and escorted him to his vehicle. No official complaint has been filed till last reports came in.
