Bhubaneswar: Road restoration work has gathered pace in Odisha’s Ganjam and Gajapati districts, with the state Works Department completing repairs on several stretches damaged by heavy rainfall and flooding, officials said on Sunday.
Following directions from the Chief Minister and regular reviews by Works Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, departmental officials and engineering teams have intensified efforts to restore road connectivity in the affected areas.
As part of the restoration drive, work on the Palashpur Bridge approach roads (A1 and A2) and Taptapani Ghat in Ganjam district has been completed. These stretches had suffered extensive damage due to heavy rainfall and floodwaters, disrupting vehicular movement.
The restoration work involved the removal of soil, stones and debris, along with necessary repairs to make the roads fit for vehicular traffic.
Similarly, the approach road to Ledabandha Bridge in the Mohana area of Gajapati district, which was severely damaged by the natural disaster, has also witnessed significant improvement following restoration measures.
Large rocks and soil deposits had accumulated on the road, affecting traffic movement and causing inconvenience to commuters and local residents. The Works Department undertook repair work to improve the condition of the stretch and restore connectivity.
Departmental teams continue to monitor the affected areas and undertake necessary restoration measures to ensure smooth and safe vehicular movement.
The restoration drive is aimed at improving connectivity in the disaster-affected areas and ensuring the early restoration of road infrastructure in the two districts.
