Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has sanctioned Rs 3.30 crore for providing facilities and logistical support to Habishyalis observing the Kartik month Brata in Puri this year, the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department said.
A large number of women observing the month-long religious ritual have arrived in the pilgrim town to undertake the Habishyali Brata.
The sanctioned amount will be utilised to ensure safe accommodation at designated Habishyali centres, facilitate darshan of Lord Jagannath, provide Mahaprasad and organise bhajan-kirtan and other cultural programmes.
The government has also put in place arrangements for transportation, deployment of volunteers, crowd management, sanitation, drinking water and uninterrupted electricity supply to ensure that the devotees face no inconvenience during their stay.
With the influx of pilgrims increasing during the holy month of Kartik, special transport facilities have been arranged to enable Habishyalis to visit the Shree Jagannath Temple and have darshan of the deities.
The department said comprehensive measures have been undertaken to ensure the smooth and comfortable observance of the month-long Brata.
