Bhubaneswar: This Diwali, a special initiative by the Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS), titled ‘Sanjeevani Setu – Setu of Hope’, is creating a bridge between rural producers and urban consumers, bringing new market opportunities to community-based enterprises from flood-affected areas.
Set up on the Ground Floor of Utkal Galleria, Bhubaneswar, the special Diwali pop-up stall showcases over 50 varieties of handcrafted and food products from 16 districts of Odisha. The collection includes traditional soil diyas, decorative items, scented candles, food products, home décor and other locally crafted products by Community-Based Organisations (CBOs).
The initiative places special emphasis on products made by CBOs from the flood-affected areas of Ganjam and Gajapati districts. By providing them with a dedicated retail platform, ORMAS aims to strengthen market access and support the restoration of livelihoods.
Speaking on the initiative, CEO, ORMAS, Dr. Monica Priyadarshini said, “Through ‘Sanjeevani Setu’, we hope to support their livelihood recovery and ensure that this Diwali brings not just happiness to the homes of consumers, but also renewed hope and opportunities to the families who have crafted these products.”
The pop-up stall will remain open until 8 November 2026. Citizens are encouraged to visit the stall, shop for locally crafted Diwali products and support rural artisans and community enterprises.
