Kataka: The Odisha government has filed an objection affidavit in the Orissa High Court opposing the bail pleas of six accused in the murder of lawyer Pitabas Panda.
The High Court has accepted the affidavits on record and directed that the bail applications be heard together on November 11.
A single-judge bench of Justice Aditya Kumar Mohapatra issued the directions after hearing the regular bail petitions filed by Madan Mohan Dalai, Sunil Kumar Hota, Shivashankar Dash alias Pintu, Jogendra Rout alias Jogi, Bipin Swain and Kalucharan Bhuyan alias Kalu.
The state government’s affidavits oppose the release of the six accused on bail in the high-profile murder case.
It may be recalled that the High Court had earlier granted bail to former MLA Bikram Panda, who was arrested in connection with the murder, on August 31.
