Bhubaneswar: A high-level Japanese delegation led by Tottori Prefecture Governor Shinji Hirai will visit Odisha from November 10 to 12 to explore opportunities for expanding cooperation in industrial investment, business, skill development, education and cultural exchanges.
A key outcome of the three-day visit is expected to be the signing of a Friendship Agreement between the Odisha Government and the Tottori Prefectural Government, providing an institutional framework for long-term collaboration in economic activities, tourism, environmental initiatives, and youth, student and personnel exchanges.
The delegation will begin its engagements on November 10 with an interaction with Odisha’s startup and business community at Startup Odisha’s O-Hub in Bhubaneswar. The programme will also include a visit to the Central Tool Room and Training Centre (CTTC), followed by a business roundtable involving state government officials, industry representatives, Japanese companies operating in Odisha and business delegates from Tottori.
The discussions are expected to focus on potential investments and partnerships in manufacturing, food processing, technology and other emerging sectors.
On November 11, the Japanese business delegation will visit the Indo-Nissin facility at the Khordha Food Processing Park to familiarise themselves with the operations of the Japanese company in Odisha. The delegation will subsequently attend the official bilateral programme with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the State Convention Centre.
The visiting representatives will also tour the World Skill Centre in Bhubaneswar and interact with students, faculty members and officials. Skill development, technical training and international exposure for young people are expected to feature prominently in the discussions.
A cultural programme at Kala Bhoomi will provide an opportunity to showcase the cultural heritage and traditions of Odisha and Tottori Prefecture.
On November 12, the delegation will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Konark Sun Temple before departing from Bhubaneswar.
Ahead of the visit, Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said Odisha and Japan shared a growing partnership founded on mutual trust and common opportunities.
He said the visit by the Tottori Governor would offer an important opportunity to strengthen bilateral engagement, adding that the state’s focus was on converting the discussions into sustainable partnerships and tangible benefits for people in both regions.
