Bhubaneswar: A 28-year-old car showroom proprietor was found dead, hanging from a tree in a forest in Baleshwar district on Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Shubham Jyoti Jena of Kanarpur Mahal village under Nilagiri block. He was running a car showroom near Kuruda Bridge in Baleshwar district.
While police are probing the incident as an unnatural death, the victim’s family has alleged foul play. The deceased’s father has dismissed suicide claims and alleged that his son was killed. He said he was informed that two to three persons were seen with Shubham at the spot where his body was found hanging and has demanded stringent action against the culprits.
As per information, Shubham left home at around 4 pm on Thursday after informing his mother that he was heading to Kaptipada and would be back by night. However, his family members grew worried after his phone became unreachable post 7.30 pm. Following this, his father Bharat Jena filed a missing complaint at Nilagiri Police Station on Thursday night.
On Friday morning, during the search, Bharat found his son’s body hanging from a tree near Debajani Chhak along Tinikosia road. The area falls under Barhampur Police Station limits.
Police reached the spot after being alerted and sent the body for post-mortem. A motorcycle was also recovered from the location.
Further investigation is underway.
