Baragada: A man was allegedly murdered in Dabha village under Jharabandh police station limits in Padampur sub-division, with his blood-soaked body found in an agricultural field on Friday, triggering tension in the area.
The deceased has been identified as Ramlal Kalet, a resident of Dabha village. His family has alleged that he was killed by an unidentified person who struck him on the head with a sharp weapon.
According to family members, Ramlal had gone to his field on a bicycle on Thursday to transport harvested paddy to the threshing floor. However, he failed to return home by evening. Worried over his absence, family members launched a search and later found him lying dead in the middle of the field in a pool of blood.
Following information, Jharabandh police reached the spot, recovered the body and initiated an investigation. A scientific team has also been deployed to collect evidence and assist in the probe.
The family has expressed suspicion that the murder could be linked to a land dispute, claiming that the government had allotted two acres of land to Ramlal’s family to support their livelihood through cultivation.
Police are investigating all possible angles to ascertain the motive behind the killing and identify those involved. The exact circumstances surrounding the death are expected to emerge after the scientific examination and further investigation.
