Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo has dismissed the Congress’s “Samvidhan Bachao Rally” led by Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge in Bhubaneswar as a “theatrical exercise in self-preservation” rather than a genuine defence of constitutional values.
Singh Deo stated that the people of Odisha have distanced themselves from the Congress party because it has failed to address their realities. “As Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, I speak with the weight of experience and the clarity of truth. The poor, Dalits, Adivasis, farmers, and labourers of Odisha distanced themselves from Congress long ago—because Congress had already distanced itself from their realities,” Singh Deo added.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership with bringing transparent and people-centric governance to Odisha, ensuring that every rupee allocated for the people reaches them directly without intermediaries or selective appeasement.
The Deputy Chief Minister criticised the Congress party for its past actions, including the Emergency, and accused them of pretending to be protectors of the Constitution. He used the Odia proverb “Thotha chana baje ghana” (empty vessels make the loudest noise) to describe the Congress party’s claims.
Singh Deo asserted that the Congress rally was not about protecting the Constitution but rather about hiding their electoral defeat behind borrowed rhetoric. He expressed confidence that the people of Odisha would not be swayed by slogans and would instead choose progress.
