Bhubaneswar: The Depression over Bay of Bengal is likely to further intensify into a deep depression during the next 24 hours. It is likely to move northwestwards during the next 12 hours, the India Meteorological Department said

Then, it is likely to recurve and move north-northeastwards during the subsequent three days towards Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts, the IMD stated in its latest bulletin.

The Depression over west-central Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards with a speed of 06 kmph during the past 6 hours and lay centered over the same region, about 600 km south of Paradip (Odisha), 760 km south of Digha (West Bengal), and 900 km south-southwest of Khepupara (Bangladesh), the IMD bulletin read..

Under its influence, parts of coastal Odisha are likely to experience light to moderate rain and thundershowers. Dry weather is likely to prevail over the rest of the districts, the weather agency predicted.

Farmers are advised to complete harvesting activities by October 23 in view of moderate rain.

Sea conditions will be rough to very rough over the areas during the period. Fishermen are advised not to venture into West-central Bay of Bengal till October 25 and along and off Odisha coast and north Bay of Bengal from October 24 to 26.  Those who are in the deep sea are advised to return to the coast.

Distant Cautionary Signal number-I (DC-I) has been hoisted at all ports of Odisha.
