Bhubaneswar: Several parts of Odisha are likely to experience heavy rain from today due to the low pressure area that lies as well marked over the Bay of Bengal, IMD said.
The system is likely to move northwestwards towards north Odisha & adjoining West Bengal coasts during the next 24 hours, it added.
“Yesterday’s Low-Pressure Area over central parts of North Bay of Bengal lies as a Well-Marked Low Pressure Area at 0530 hrs IST of today, the 30th September over Northwest Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move northwestwards towards north Odisha & adjoining West Bengal coasts during next 24 hours,” the weather department stated.
The weather system is likely to cause intermittent downpours over parts of West Bengal and Odisha from September 30.
The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar forecast thunderstorms with lightning at a few places in north and coastal Odisha.
Heavy rainfall is likely across Odisha for the next four days from September 30, the Met Department said.
