Bhubaneswar: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the Rayagada SP (superintendent of police) to conduct an impartial probe and ensure justice to the class-III minor girl who was allegedly raped by her school peon last week.
The commission issued the direction after hearing a petition filed by Subrat Kumar Dash, the State president of ‘Nyaya Pain Ladhei Parivar’.
Dash, in his petition, also prayed the commission to order concerned authorities to pay Rs 50 lakh compensation to the survivor who is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The class III girl of Kashipur Ashram School in Rayagada district was allegedly raped by the peon of the same school, Shiba Prasad Mishra.
The girl is undergoing treatment at the Rayagada district headquarters hospital in a critical condition. The accused peon was arrested after the family of the student filed a complaint at Dangasil police station regarding the incident.
