Bhubaneswar: Officers and staff on election duty, including police personnel and vehicle staff can cast vote at their respective places of duty.
The State Electoral officer has made elaborate arrangements to facilitate voting of the polling staff at the facilitation center set up at the respective place of duty.
Chief Electoral Officer Nikunja Bihari Dhal said “officials on poll duty including presiding officer, polling officer, police personnel and even polling vehicle staff can cast their vote at voter facilitation centre at duty place. Such arrangement has been made for the first time in the State.”
Citizens above 80 years and person with 40% of disability above can access the home voting facilities. The system was also implemented earlier during by-election, Dhal said.
“Material procurement and training of polling staff are underway. We are fully prepared for the elections as per timeline,” he added.
Odisha has been holding election simultaneously polls for the Lok Sabha and the State Assembly.
The notification issued by the Election Commission of India stated that it had “tentatively given the Poll Day as April 16, 2024… for the purpose of reference and to calculate Start and End dates in the Election Planner”.
