Bolangir: Two groups of State BJP today scuffled in the presence of party’s Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal during a programme at RTO square in Bolangir district on Monday.
The party planned a mega bike rally for ‘Meri Mitti, Mera Desh’ programme from Bijakhaman in the town. The State president was leading the rally.
However, BJP MLA candidate Anant Das and local leader Balaram Singh Yadav allegedly hatched a conspiracy to thwart the party programme at RTO square in the town.
They attempted to climb on the vehicle of Manmohan Samal. Balaram Singh allegedly dragged party’s action committee convener and BJP leader Gopalji Panigrahi from the vehicle and heckled him.
Similarly, supporters of Gopalji removed the shirt of Anant Das and pushed him.
Both the groups engaged in a face-off for quite some time in the presence of the party president.
Later, Gopalji lodged a complaint at Town police station against Balaram Singh Yadav who escaped from the spot soon after the brawl.
Earlier, Bolangir district unit of BJP Sibaji Mohanty had declared that Balaram was not a member of the party.
