He was found hanging at his home by his domestic help who alerted the police.

A Mechanical Engineering drop-out hailing from Patna, Rajput rose to fame from famous TV serial Pavitra Rishta (2009-11).

Rajput made his film debut in the drama Kai Po Che! (2013), for which he received a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He then starred in the romantic comedy Shuddh Desi Romance (2013) and as the titular detective in the action thriller Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015).

His highest-grossing releases came with a supporting role in the satire PK (2014). Rajput is best known for his titular role in Neeraj Pandey’s 2016 release, ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, the biopic of former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. For his performance in the latter, he received his first nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

He was last seen in Chhichhore which released in 2019, which ironically was very vocal against suicide.

Notably, Rajput’s former manager Disha Salian had committed suicide on June 8. Disha had jumped off the 14th floor of a building in Malad, Mumbai. She was rushed to a hospital in Borivali where she was declared dead.
