Bhubaneswar: Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor was a true entertainer till his last, as per an official statement released by his family after his demise at HM Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai at the age of 67 on Thursday.
“Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8.45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained ot the last,” read the statement.
Rishi remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two year of treatment across two continents. He amazed family and friends at how he did not let his illness get the better of him.
His family shared how the veteran actor was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over and prayed that Rishi would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears.
In this time of grief also, Rishi’s family requested all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to respect the laws that are in force, to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Rishi Kapoor will be cremated in Chandanwadi Crematorium, Marine Lines, which is near the hospital. His body was directly taken to the crematorium, not to home, owing to the lockdown.
