Bhubaneswar: The paparazzi loves Taimur Ali Khan and it is no secret that the country is obsessed with the two-year-old toddler. From sharing his adorable pictures on social media to making hilarious memes about him, Taimur is the youngest celebrity of India. While there are several other star kids in the same age group as Taimur, let us take look at what makes Taimur so popular:
Taimur was born to Bollywood actors Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan in 2016. Both his parents are popular in the film industry and are loved by the audience. With over two decades of work, gorgeous Kareena and dashing Saif were paired opposite each other in ‘Tashan’ when their love blossomed. Since then their relationship has always been the talk of the town.
In addition to that, Taimur is the grandson of Randhir Kapoor who was a popular yesteryear star. Power couple Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh are also the grandparents of Taimur. One of the most popular and highest-paid Hindi film actresses in the 1990s and early 2000s, Karisma Kapoor is Taimur’s aunty and superstar of the current generation Ranbir Kapoor is Taimur’s uncle.
Taimur is of Nawab lineage and here is a brief history to that:
Saif Ali Khan was born to Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, a former captain of the Indian national cricket team, and his wife Sharmila Tagore, a film actress. From 1952–71, Pataudi held the title of Nawab of Pataudi, but following his death a ‘pagri’ ceremony was held in the village of Pataudi, Haryana to crown Khan as the tenth Nawab of Pataudi. Khan is also the titular Nawab of Bhopal and is the titular head of two erstwhile princely states. On his mother’s side, Khan is of predominantly Bengali descent with being related to the noble laureate Rabindranath Tagore. So, not only is Taimur the prince of Pataudi but he is also related to Tagore, and that makes him royalty.
Just after his birth, Taimur ran into a controversy. When Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor named their new-born baby Taimur, many people pointed out on social media that the name is similar to the name of the Mongolian emperor Timur, who had invaded India and had massacred many people to establish his rule in the sub-continent. This was followed by a lot of backlash.
Later, the couple clarified that the name meant 'iron' in Arabic and it had no resemblance to any person living or dead. We wonder how Taimur will react to the controversy when he grows up.
When you are the child of big stars, the cameras always surround you. While many children get irritated by the blinding flash lights of the camera and burst into tears, Taimur has always been media-friendly. The adorable child poses for the camera and gives a smile to the media personnel. He also photographs well with other star kids like Yash and Roohi (Karan Johar’s children) and has been captured by the media many times playing with his nanny.
Let us admit it that Taimur is very cute. There have been several comments in social media of people wanting to pull his cheeks. Someone even went out of the way and made a doll modeled on him. In this world of negativity, adorable photos and videos of Taimur goofing around provides people a sense of calm and relief.
