Malkangiri: In a tragic incident, at least 11 members of a family, including two children, were killed in a road accident in the Arjuni area of Balodabazar in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
This accident occurred when the pickup van they were travelling by collided head-on with a speeding truck.
According to reports, the killer truck hit the pickup van near Khamaria last Thursday night when the members of the Sahu family were returning home from Khilora to Arjuni after attending the programme, the pickup vehicle was hit by a truck near Khamaria.
At least 11 people died on the spot and 10 were injured in the mishap. Two critically injured were referred to Raipur, while the other injured have been admitted to different hospitals in the region.
The bodies of seven people were taken to Bhatapara for post-mortem. Four other bodies have been kept in the Balodabazar post-mortem house.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and started the rescue work.
