Bhubaneswar: At least two Maoists were killed in an encounter with troops of 198 Battalion CRPF and the Andhra Pradesh police at Pedabayalu in the Visakhapatnam district early today morning.

A CRPF Greyhound jawan was injured. While the encounter has concluded, the CRPF jawan has been shifted to a hospital in Vishakhapatnam for treatment. Reportedly, two rifles have been seized from the spot and cops informed that around 25-30 naxals were involved in the incident.

It is notable to mention here that with the elections knocking on the door, security has been strengthened in the red corridors to ensure smooth and incident-free polls.
