Bhubaneswar: Two hardcore women Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in between the jungles of Gorli and Mutheli under Katekalyan police station in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.
The two deceased were identified as Manjula, LOS Commander of Pandaras, and Gangi Punem, who was a team member of the divisional committee of the CPI (Maoist).
Reportedly, a joint team of Dantewada and Sukma police had launched a combing operation in the area following reliable information of the presence of Maoists in the area.
At around 11.30 am, there was an exchange of fire between Maoists and security forces. After the encounter, the security forces recovered dead bodies of two female Maoist cadres. Two 12-bore rifles and one country-made weapon were also recovered from the spot.
