Bhubaneswar: Around 30 Naxalites were reportedly killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region on Friday, according to media reports citing a senior police official.
The gunfight took place around 1 p.m. in the dense forests of Abhujmaad, located on the Narayanpur-Dantewada inter-district border, during an anti-Naxal operation by a joint team of security personnel.
Following the exchange of fire, the bodies of seven Naxalites were recovered from the encounter site, along with a cache of weapons, including an AK-47 and a self-loading rifle (SLR), the reports stated.
A search operation in the area remains ongoing as security forces continue to comb the region for further threats or recoveries.
