Ajmer Dargah Case: Court Admits Another Petition Claiming Presence Of Shiva Temple

Jaipur: A petition has been filed in a court in Ajmer, claiming that a Shiva temple exists within the Ajmer Dargah complex. The court on Monday admitted the plea for hearing and issued notices to all concerned parties.

The next hearing has been scheduled for February 21.

Rajvardhan Singh Parmar, National President of the Maharana Pratap Sena, has claimed that a Shiva temple exists within the Ajmer Dargah complex.

The petition was filed in the Ajmer Civil Court by Rajvardhan Singh Parmar, National President of the Maharana Pratap Sena, through Supreme Court advocate Dr A.P. Singh.

Dr Singh stated that the court considered Rajvardhan Singh Parmar as the principal petitioner, referring to a representation submitted by him to the President of India in 2022. This earlier petition was placed before the court as part of the proceedings, following which the matter was formally admitted.

According to the petition, a Shivling of Lord Mahadev is claimed to be present inside the dargah premises, and worship allegedly took place there in ancient times. The petitioner has submitted maps, survey-related material, photographs, and other documents as supporting evidence.

Dr Singh added that if the court seeks further proof, additional material will be provided.

The petition has named the Rajasthan government, the Archaeology Department, and the Dargah Committee as respondents. Notices have been issued to all parties.

Parmar has stated that affidavits from approximately 1.25 lakh people have also been submitted to the court. These affidavits were reportedly collected during a statewide outreach campaign across Rajasthan.

Reacting to the court’s decision, Rajvardhan Singh Parmar said the recognition of his petition as the primary one was significant, as it stemmed from his 2022 representation. He expressed confidence in the legal process and said the organisation would fully cooperate with the court.

The petitioner also mentioned that the Maharana Pratap Sena had earlier undertaken a statewide march, which led to large-scale public support for the petition.

Notably, a similar petition was earlier filed on November 27, 2024, by Vishnu Gupta, National President of the Hindu Sena, who claimed the existence of a Sankat Mochan Mahadev temple at the same site.

That petition was also admitted by the court, and notices were issued to the Dargah Committee and other parties.

A related application filed by the Dargah Committee will also be heard on February 21. Both matters are now scheduled to be taken up together in the Ajmer Civil Court on the next date of hearing.
