New Delhi: The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) and the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSE&L), Ministry of Education, have released guidelines for co-locating Anganwadi Centres with schools.
The guidelines aim to promote Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) through integrated models of Anganwadi Centres and schools on the same campus.
Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annpurna Devi, and Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, graced the event, emphasising the importance of a strong foundation in a child’s learning journey. The guidelines will enable states and union territories to scale up the co-location model, which already has over 2.9 lakh Anganwadi Centres located within school premises.
The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a strong foundation of human capital in a Viksit Bharat. The co-location of Anganwadis with schools is expected to ensure a smooth transition from early childhood care to formal schooling, contributing to the holistic development of children.
