Chhattisgarh: 1 SI Martyred, 4 Naxals Killed In Police Encounter

Bhubaneswar: One Police Sub Inspector (SI) was martyred and four Naxals were killed in an encounter near Pardhoni village under Madanwada police station limits of Chhattisgarh.

Three of the deceased were females and have been identified as Pramila, Sarita and Krishna who had Rs 1 lakh bounty on them. The one male, identified as Ashok, had a prize of Rs 8 lakhs on him. The martyred cop is Shyam Kishore Sharma.

As per reports, a team led by Sharma was engaged in a routine combing operation at about 10-11 pm last night. The Naxals fired shots at the police and an exchange of fire ensured. The SI received bullet injuries and succumbed to it. In the exchange of fire, the Naxals were also killed.

ASP Rajnandgaon GN Baghel informed that one AK-47 rifle, one SLR weapon and two .315 bore rifles recovered from the site. A probe is underway.
